Creating Sections in AutoCAD Architecture
In ACA, you work with intelligent building objects (walls, doors, windows, slabs). From these, you can automatically generate sections and elevations.
🛠️ Steps to Create a Section in AutoCAD Architecture
1. Prepare Your Model
Make sure your building is drawn with ACA objects (Walls, Doors, Windows, Roofs, Slabs).
Sections only work properly with these intelligent objects (not just plain lines).
2. Use the Section Tool
Go to the Home tab → Section & Elevation panel.
Click Section Line.
Pick points across your model where you want the section cut.
Right-click → Enter to finish.
👉 A section line is created in plan view.
3. Generate the Section
Select the Section Line.
Right-click → Generate Section/Elevation.
In the dialog box:
Choose 2D Section/Elevation (for drafting)
or 3D Section/Elevation (for visualization).
Place the section view in your drawing area.
4. Refine the Section
The section is a smart block linked to your model.
If you change the model (move a wall, add a window), you can update the section by right-clicking → Regen Section/Elevation.
Add hatches, dimensions, annotations for clarity.
5. Output
You can place multiple sections (longitudinal, cross) in one drawing.
These can be used for construction documents.
✅ Summary
Draw with ACA objects (not just lines).
Insert Section Line along the cut.
Generate Section/Elevation view automatically.
Update when the model changes.
